Composite decking is made of two parts:

1. The Core (Structural Foundation):

   • Typically does last 25–50 years.
      

1. The Cap / Shell (Protective Outer Layer):
    
   • The part you actually see, touch, and walk on.
      
   • Gives the board its color, texture, and protection.
      
   •  The visible beauty of composite decking doesn’t last forever. Entry-level boards may show wear in as little as 5-10 years, while premium capped boards can hold their appearance for 20–25 years before fading or scratching becomes noticeable.
